Congrats to Saint Mary’s University for the successful completion of the McNally East Solar and Roof Replacement Project that is featured in this month’s edition of The Engineer magazine.
The 70+ year old roof was upgraded with insulation from R-5 to R-30 and solar panels were added. So heat loss through the roof has not only been reduced but the roof is now producing 170,000 kWh per year of clean solar electricity.
SMU has been a local leader in the adoption of solar energy.
